THE WIDER TAPE

The board is the five markets I find interesting. This is the opposite exercise: one whole venue, every listed contract, read cold. Most of what a prediction-market venue lists never trades — and which questions go untouched is itself a read. That's the data I use to write missing-market specs.

Read-only. No trade links, nothing to click through, not financial advice. Venue: Pascal (private beta) — numbers straight from its public data API, USDC notional.

784 events, 2435 contracts, and 2241 of them have never printed a single trade. That's not a dunk — every venue's tape looks like this before the crowd shows up. It's the honest baseline: attention, not listings, is the scarce thing.

WHY I READ AN EMPTY TAPE

A market with no trades is a question priced by nobody — which means the listing itself was a guess about what people want to know. When most of a venue's guesses go untouched, the interesting question isn't "why is it quiet" — it's what would a market people actually showed up for look like? That's the missing-market problem, and it's the one I work on daily.
